High Alert

High Alert is New Zealand’s early warning system about dangerous drugs. High Alert is run by the Drug Information and Alerts Aotearoa New Zealand (DIANZ) who are supported by a network of health professionals and social services (both Government and Non-Government Organisations).

New Zealand Drug Foundation

The NZ Drug Foundation is an NGO driven by the vision of an Aotearoa free from Drug Harm. They focus on providing information services, policy advice and lobbying for drug law reform.

NZ Drug Foundation has been working with KnowYourStuff NZ to promote drug checking as harm reduction, providing support through purchase of a spectrometer and logisitical help, and leading advocacy initiatives.

DISC Trust

The DISC Trust is a peer-based harm reduction organisation, and a licensed drug checking service. DISC aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people who use drugs through harm reduction. DISC operates regular drug checking services in Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin, as well as static and mobile hep C testing, treatment and support services. DISC Trust is a member of Harm Reduction Coalition Aotearoa and supports human rights and health-based approaches to drugs.

DISC takes pride in New Zealand being the first country in the world to introduce a national state sponsored needle exchange programme.

PHF Science

PHF Science (the NZ Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science Ltd) is a Crown Research Institute dedicated to improving the health, wellbeing and safety of our communities. As a licenced Drug Checking Provider, PHF Science applies world-leading science to support other providers, including KnowYourStuffNZ, with their important drug checking work.

PHF Science supports the Drug Checking Providers with advice and knowledge of international trends; by maintaining the portable Bruker FTIR instruments used by the providers; by providing sample collection kits and some chemical reagents for testing; and by analysing samples from providers that are difficult to identify, or where further follow-up analysis is required. PHF Science also plays a key role in identifying new psychoactive substances.
