Gearing up for the festival season

Yesterday we ran the first training session for volunteers who will help with the service this year.  Over 2 hours we outlined the service, how it works, the legal and political framework of harm reduction in New Zealand, and then covered protocols for reagent testing and FT-IR testing followed by demonstrations of both and a chance to try it out.  We detected brewer’s yeast, baking soda, and valerian extract – potent stuff!

In other news, we now have a page where people who support our work can now do so by donating money to help keep the service free and sustainable.  If think our work is important and you’d like to donate to KnowYourStuffNZ, you can do so here.

Finally, we received a lovely message this morning: “Thank you for your wonderful work, I have seen the damage that unknown drugs have done in the USA.” It is lovely to know people appreciate our work!
